BYERS PRAIRIE WIND PALOMINOS:
MAKING THE WORLD A MORE BEAUTIFUL PLACE
ONE FRIENDLY & WELL-BEHAVED HORSE AT A TIME.

Welcome

The focus of Prairie Winds Palominos is breeding, training, and sale of safe, people-friendly horses for trail, pleasure riding, and ranch work.

Our ranch in northeast Kansas provides an environment in which our horses can learn lessons essential to their natural development. They are permitted to "be horses" while finding and living their roles as members of a herd. At the same time, they are handled frequently so they understand to respect humans
as leaders.

BREEDING PROGRAM

The goal of our breeding program is to produce versatile horses with classic conformation. Our breeding stock possess the most desireable characterstics of the best foundation quarter horses: balanced conformation, developed musculature, refined heads, clean throatlatches, and elegant, well-defined necks.

Our stallion, Desert Skippa

PROGRAM EXPANSION: We have decided to expand our breeding program, beginning in 2012. While continuing to emphasize purebred quarter horses, we'll be doing some cross-breeding with Thoroughbreds, to produce Appendix QHs, and with Arabians, to produce Half-Arabians or Quarabs. Desert Skippa will remain our primary stallion, but our own homegrown cremello colt, The Cloud Price, will become involved as we seek to eventually produce 100% palomino color. Keep an eye on our site to see how we do!

TRAINING PROGRAM

Our training program emphasizes the mental and emotional growth and well-being of our equine pupils. The natural horsemanship methods we use stress respect for the unique personalities and potential of each of our horses. Partnership is the objective. Our techniques result in a trusting, rewarding experience for horse and rider.
